Gil Jordan

Experience that Counts

  • Gil Jordan and his wife, Kimberly Pinter, married 30 years, have owned property in Coram since 1978, and have lived and worked full time in the Flathead Valley since 1985.
  • Gil holds a Master of Arts degree in Theatre from UCLA, and a Bachelor of Science in Language Arts (English, Speech, Theatre and Journalism) from California State Polytechnic University.
  • Since January, 2005, Gil has served as the Executive Director of the Northwest Montana Historical Society and the Museum at Central School in Kalispell, where he works cooperatively in this growing non-profit community service enterprise to get things done with 650 members, a large board of directors and 50 volunteers.
  • An active firefighter and secretary-treasurer of the Coram-West Glacier Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, Gil understands the value of local public service.
  • For 13 years Gil was a social worker at Lamplighter House in Kalispell, serving adults with serious mental illness, giving him an insider's grasp of the mental health systems in our county and state. He knows what works and what doesn't, and if elected would continue the progressive work in this area begun by Senator Dan Weinberg
  • In 1985 & 86, and again from 2000 to 2005, Gil worked full time as a substitute teacher in the Columbia Falls, Whitefish, and West Glacier School Districts, all grades K through 12, and most all subjects, giving him valuable direct knowledge of our local schools, kids, teachers and administrators. Gil is a strong advocate for quality education as an essential tool in maintaining and improving the quality of life in our communities.
  • From 2000 to 2007 Gil was the debate coach for the Whitefish High School Speech & Debate team, bringing home one team state championship, and coaching eight individual state champions in debate, along with 30 debaters finishing in the top eight at the state championships. Working with the best and brightest of our students, Gil has a postive outlook on the future of our youth.
  • For five years Gil served on the Flathead County Library Foundation Board of Directors, the last three years as President of that board. He supports a high quality library systyem as a key core element of a healthy and growing community.
  • Gil has also donated his time to the community as a Literacy Volunteer tutor, and as a member of the Flathead County Critical Incident Stress Debreifing Team.
  • Prior to moving full time to Montana in 1985, Gil demonstrated exceptional administrative skills as the Technical Director of the very busy 1300 seat La Mirada Civic Theatre in California, overseeing a one million dollar annual budget, up to 60 employees, and upwards of 200 events each year.
  • Gil is a strong advocate of a clean and healthful environment, and spends hundreds of hours outdoors each year as a dedicated runner, having completed 32 full-length 26.2 mile marathons, one 50 K (31.2 miles) and one 50 mile run.  Gil is in great shape to represent you!
